Family Friendly Miramar Brewery Tour

First Stop: Ballast Point

Start here and make sure to grab lunch from their robust menu. It will be hard not to stay all day! This spot is must-see in the Miramar area with a sprawling indoor/outdoor restaurant – perfect for families. Their staff is fun and helpful, so make sure to ask them for a beer and food pairing recommendation!

Favorite Bites & Brews

  • Duck Nachos – I’m not usually a duck person, but YUM.
  • Bruschetta BLT – you had me at balsamic marinaded tomatoes…
  • You know I am a taster flight kind of girl – and these are a must to at 4 tasters for only $9!
    • California Kolsch, light but fruity!
    • Sculpin, pretty sure it’s illegal to go to Ballast Point and not get sculpin.
    • Wahoo White, perfectly light for a sunny day.
    • Victory at Sea, end with this one for a little coffee kick!

Tips & Tricks

  • Make a reservation! This place can get busy on the weekends!

Second Stop: Duck Foot Brewing Co.

This smaller tasting room reminds me of our first few years in San Diego. Breweries were still popping up like crazy in small garages everywhere. I miss those days! This spot is great because they have picnic tables and grassy areas out front so the kids can be kids. Bring a few toys and let them play while you try out their rotating draft list!

Quick Info:

  • Address: 8920 Kenamar Drive, Suite #210, San Diego
  • Hours: Sunday-Thursday, 12:00 – 8:00 PM. Friday-Saturday, 12:00 – 9:00 PM.
  • Parking: Lot right out front.
  • Reservations: E-mail them here – reservations@duckfootbeer.com

Favorite Bites & Brews

  • They have a rotation of food trucks so check out social media or call ahead to see what’s cookin’!
  • I love a Honey Blonde, and their ‘The Looker’ hit the spot!
  • Secret Spot is a delicious Hazy IPA – but only have one! This baby is 7.4%!

Tips & Tricks

  • This is a smaller spot, so make sure to call ahead if you don’t have a reservation!

Last Stop: Gravity Heights

Stop here last because you can really relax and hang out at this spot. Plenty of space on their turf or even just on the patio to unwind. The patio is covered in picnic tables and shaded with trees so even on a hot day you can enjoy the breeze. Like any brewery these days, always call ahead to make sure they are open! Regulations change all the time.

Favorite Bites & Brews

  • Tikka Masala Chicken Pie – this is like a creation out of my dreams!
  • I can’t get away from Fried Chicken Sandwiches – and this one does NOT disappoint!
  • Kids menu has all of the basics – but is pretty generous with their serving size so it’s shareable!
  • I love all of the beers in their ‘Crisp and Bright’ Flight:
    • Sandbar Blonde
    • Magical Heights Fruited Sour
    • Take Two Pilsner
    • Pils D’Oro Italian Style Pilsner

Tips & Tricks

  • The turf area on the side of the patio is so perfect for families – try to grab a spot!

With so many breweries to explore in Miramar – I know I’ve missed a ton! What other breweries in the area are Family Friendly?
